Amulet Necklace with Pendant

An exquisite piece in silver of early to mid 20th century origins.The necklace has two components -12 tubular amulet containers suspended on loops , strung on a base of braided silver wire cord (patti) and a central pendant (bottu).Typically these bottus were worn by Lambadi tribal women in Andhra Pradesh as marriage symbols. Amulets were universally worn in the life time battle of subduing external and internal evil spirits.
