Exquisite silver belt (arapatta), made of large interlocking wire links, with buckle and hook-end extensions decorated with intricate wirework. These types of belts were used by Muslim or ‘Mappila’ women in North Kerala. The belt closed by passing the end through the buckle and engaging its inverted hook into the chain links. It can therefore be adjusted to any size.
